Hi, it’s Mimi. Thanks for taking the time to stop and check out my little space on the interweb.
I began my blog during a time when I needed a change in my life. I’d moved to NYC right after college and had been an elementary school teacher for one of the most prominent charter school networks in NYC for about 3 years. Although I loved teaching and working with my students, I found that I was spending all of my time working and not enough time devoted to myself and personal growth. I wasn’t living life to the fullest and I was beginning to feel a little burnt out.
I made the decision to do something huge with my life: move halfway across the world, to a country where I knew absolutely no one, while still continuing my passion for teaching. This was monumental, considering I’d only gotten my first passport in 2012. But traveling and living abroad was always something I’d wanted to do, but had always figured out reasons excuses to hold me back. But NO MORE.
This blog is a reminder to myself and, hopefully, to you, to appreciate each moment and be brave enough to embrace life’s adventures, whether they were in our own backyard or halfway across the world. To be bold and fearless, and not let the things that I can’t change or control consume us. To strive to enjoy life, rather than to just live life.
Peace, love, and lots of laughter,
Mimi

This is seriously so inspiring! A lot of people get stuck in that 9-5 monotonous rut and never make a change. It’s awesome to see someone getting out there and diving head first into something so challenging- like moving across the world. Glad to see your continuing your passions abroad. Congratulations!

It’s a pleasure to meet you! My wife and I just got back from our exploratory phase trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand. We are planning on making the jump next year, so it’s great to read up on the experiences of someone who is living the ex-pat lifestyle.
